At the October Gulf South Meeting, Southern Light CEO Andy Newton (pictured standing) explained not only the critical role that fiber-based communications has assumed in today’s data-driven world, but how fiber access can shape the development of future real estate projects. Southern Light is one of the ten largest providers of fiber access in the United States, and with the demand for high-speed data increasing exponentially, that access can make or break transaction involving clients in need of gig-per-second (or greater) speeds. While the field of telecommunications has largely been dependent on traditional electricity-based copper infrastructure, dielectric light-based fiber transmissions represent the “future-proof” data-transmission solution moving forward.
