Steve Stroud, Executive Director Economic and Community Development of Roswell Inc., informed the Perimeter Group that Roswell Inc. created the largest opportunity zone in Georgia. When Roswell Inc. was formed 5 years ago there were 12 certified companies that used the opportunity zone but that number has grown to 217. The employee tax credit comes back as a credit on state income tax filings or through state withholding which accumulates as an ongoing credit over five years.

The $3500 new employee tax credit becomes a valuable tool for the landlord. Roswell added 740 new businesses in the past year with over 5800 businesses in total. While around 1/3 of Roswell businesses are home based, there is plenty of commercial real estate opportunity and a lot activity.
