At the first Mastermind Group Meeting of the Detroit REAL Professionals Mastermind Group, much of the conversation was around the increase in land and construction costs and the vast number of brownfield developments that are underway. Jared Gell with Mid-America Real Estate – Michigan, Inc. commented on a number of retail land parcels they are marketing that are upwards of $750k to $1M an acre and construction costs are up 30%. Nicholas Maloof with Associated Environmental Services commented that developers can look to layer a variety of tax incentives, loans, grants and other funding incentives to offset their all in development costs with sizable financial benefit.
