Shirlynn Brownell, Director of Economic Development for the City of Brookhaven presented an update on current and future projects coming to the area at the recent Atlanta Midtown Real Professionals Mastermind Meeting. With prior experience at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, she expressed excitement for the volume and quality of projects headed to Brookhaven during her first few months on the job.

AT&T is a large presence in the area and Google Fiber is considering locating to the City of Brookhaven. An impressive list of high profile companies have recently looked to Brookhaven including Sysnet, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Weather Channel and Emory Sports Medicine, as well as the Atlanta Hawks who are bringing their new practice facility. Discussion in the group also centered on the Buford Highway corridor and its extensive redevelopment opportunities. The community and economic development officials would like to see more office development and restaurants similar to Ponce City Market, but preserving the multi-cultural aspect continues to be a priority.
