The members of the Philadelphia Mastermind Group who braved the weather to attend the January meeting were given a special opportunity to learn about cybersecurity from Ballard Spahr’s Edward McAndrew. A former federal cybercrime prosecutor, McAndrew discussed the importance of preparing a game plan for both preventing and managing a cyber attack. He also shared hacking methods, categories of information, legal risks, contracts, rules and regulations regarding cyber crimes and how they might affect companies and their customers. Particularly for real estate, he stressed steps that can be taken to avoid fraudulent wire transfer incidents by not wiring through email and using multiple factors of authentication that are not connected to an email account such as a phone call.
