For all of the negative press that follows the Vine City neighborhood, whether it is stories of economic stagnation, abandoned homes or controversy over development, residents of the neighborhood and many others believe the area is on the cusp of a renaissance. Rick Ferguson of Georgia Brokers Real Estate reports a $60M mixed use development is planned next to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Vine City, even as the neighborhood struggles with perception issues. Situated immediately west of downtown Atlanta, the area borders most of Atlanta’s major tourist attractions including Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Philips Arena, Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Aquarium, and The World of Coca-Cola.

Invest Atlanta recently agreed to sell nearly 8 acres of Vine City land to the municipal housing authority for $3.3 million. The proposed $60 million mixed use development will include affordable housing, retail and commercial.
