Tad Leithead, Executive Director of the Cumberland CID reports there is much activity at SunTrust Park with the Braves spending $1.5B in 3 years. Originally the Braves bought 69 acres but have added 20 more while becoming the largest tax payer in Cobb County. A Georgia Tech study finds the net results of the Braves moving to Cobb County is $11B in growth including the “Halo Effect” of new developments in the area because of their relocation from Turner Field. There are seven office buildings, 7,000 residential units, and 500,000 SF of retail currently under construction.
