Alexander Heil, PhD presented a detailed account of the Economic Outlook for Q1 2019, especially as it pertains to the synergy between Northern New Jersey and NYC. While the economy is looking bullish right now, there are transportation challenges facing everyone crossing the Hudson for work and play. As Chief Economist for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Dr. Heil should know. Members of the Northern New Jersey Mastermind Group were privy to a brief yet detailed update on the challenges ahead.
$13B are currently being spent on much needed upgrades at all three major airports.
The Port Authority Building in NYC is earmarked for a $10B rebuild and upgrade, working around the current structure without commuters missing a beat.
The proposed Gateway Tunnel connecting rails from New Jersey to NYC’s Penn Station (also in need of an upgrade) will cost billions more and take years to complete.
