Parking is going high-tech in the northeastern US. That was one of the topics on the table at the April 11th meeting of the Northern New Jersey Mastermind Group.
• Triple P (private-public partnerships) funding could be a solution for new parking structures in congested areas like Jersey City, where public transit has not replaced the desire or need for cars.
• New York City’s new congestion pricing to reduce city traffic may soon be adopted in other cities like Seattle and LA and may well be applied to highly populated NE suburban markets.
• High-tech parking system solutions, ranging from an electronic wheel lock collection system for delinquent ticket holders to license plate recognition systems and electronic parking plan and enforcement solutions – all summarized by guest Matt Silverman of PayLock – are already becoming part of the equation.
Technology, creative thinking and public/private partnerships may well be the keys to solving parking challenges and driving real estate deals in the northeast.
