The Rosslyn-Ballston corridor is experiencing record vacancy rates, but the picture isn’t all bleak, said CBRE‘s Erik McLaughlin at June’s Real Professionals Network meeting.  CBRE is predicting vacancies to drop to about 10 percent by 2020 or 2021, a slow but steady recovery after the BRAC closures and recession of the late aughts. But those vacancy rates are slightly deceptive, said McLaughlin.  “The quality of what is left is not that great,” he said. “There’s probably 5 percent that’s space you wouldn’t worry about competing with. You can be an owner of a site and build a class-A building despite high vacancy rates because the quality of what’s out there is subpar.”
