New Jersey Sets Out the Welcome Mat for More National and International Companies.
Companies from several states and five countries in six different market segments are establishing new business locations in the Garden State. And they’re bringing with them jobs, new construction work and more revenue for the State. So said this month’s guest speaker Margie Piliere, chief economic development officer for Choose: New Jersey. As the marketing arm of New Jersey’s Partnership for Action (PAC) initiative, this non-profit agency is responsible for attracting new business to the state, assisting them with site selection, marketing and coordination with the three other agencies that form the PAC, providing them with new business, financial and employment services. So far in 2016, 61 companies have established new locations in New Jersey, creating more than 2,250 new construction jobs. That brings the grand total for the last 22 months to 133 new companies, 28,000 new full-time employees and 6,400 new construction jobs for New Jersey.
This month’s meeting also provided a look at the insurance market for general contractors in New Jersey and New York City, thanks to guest Patrick Healy of Brown & Brown of New York. Next month: State of the Market Broker Panel to be presented by member company NAI James E. Hanson.
