It’s not just factories that are eligible for tax incentives, RPN members learned at the May meeting. New RPN Champion Olivia Byrne of K&L Gates spearheads the firm’s economic incentive practice nationwide. She recently negotiated $100 million in incentives for one client. Representing The Advisory Board, Olivia negotiated $60 million in incentives in a recent deal, and also represented Radio One and earned them incentives during its recent search for a new building.
“Trade associations wouldn’t normally think they are eligible for incentives, but they can be. Don’t think that office buildings are not possible,” she said. Byrne offered to talk with any RPN members if they have deals that might be eligible for an incentive—she is especially looking for another association either looking to enter the District or remain in the District.
