The first Mastermind Meeting of the spring spawned a lively conversation where members caught up on which Opportunity Zones had been confirmed and the latest news along Northern Virginia’s industrial corridor. Guest Michael Winstanley of Winstanley Architects and Planners was in attendance to present a vision for water-surface transportation that would relieve the pressure on regional highways and railways while furthering the current efforts to develop various areas along the waterfront. As the underutilized and neglected Potomac and Anacostia Rivers undergo cleanup and revitalization, Winstanley (and many other developers and stakeholders) are beginning to explore the value in connecting cross-river, a system that would be easier and less expensive to implement than most people realize.
