Attendees of this month’s Mastermind Meeting caught up with the current status of the market, which has a smaller margin of error for many sectors. While the suburban office market is doing well, a glut of construction in downtown DC is leading to more generous concessions in this submarket. Multifamily merchant-builders are also more challenged, although the pipeline is slowing down on the rental side.
Other topics of discussion ranged from the difficulty in courting grocers in Wards 7 and 8 to the future of politics and development in Montgomery County, Maryland, as well as the lack of available lots and anticipated development boom in proffer-free Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince William counties.
