This month the DC Mastermind group enjoyed a presentation from Colleen Kardasz, the Assistant Director of Loudoun County Economic Development. While Loudoun County has a larger big data presence than Silicon Valley, Kardasz’s office is seeking opportunities to diversify the county’s portfolio, with a particular interest in mixed-use office development near emerging Silver Line stations. Challenges remain around balancing the prosperity and potential of eastern Loudoun’s pipeline with the isolation and lack of infrastructure in western Loudoun, Overall, Loudoun’s current consideration of the Comprehensive Plan will be pivotal in laying the groundwork for the county to become a more dense and amenitized destination in northern Virginia.
