This month, REAL Chicago members and guests welcomed speaker Matt Frank, Director of Economic Development for the Village of Schaumburg. Highlights included an overview of the Village’s journey from their 1962 development plan to today’s comprehensive plan for future land use and development. Schaumburg is the largest center of economic development in the State of Illinois, outside the City of Chicago. The Village has over 12 million square feet of office space and 13.5 million square feet of industrial space, serving over 200 manufacturers. The resulting daytime population of over 150,000 has been a driving factor in the continued retail and restaurant growth.
Matt shared plans for development within the 90 North campus, which currently houses the convention center, Zurich’s headquarters, and Motorola’s campus. The expansion includes a new 225 acre mixed-use campus that features high-end residential developments, Class A office space, numerous entertainment and hospitality options, and street retail districts. He also outlined the framework for a proposed entertainment district – 90 North District East.
