REAL Chicago Members and guests had the opportunity to gain key insights into the numerous nuances that exist when developers and investors are working with a municipality from guest speaker, Michael Blue of Teska Associates. Michael highlighted that the “Language of Municipalities” is unique and stressed why clearly communicating to the public sector is so important. Towns have a lot of rules and processes. What a developer may have started with at the beginning of the process will often result in something altogether different and potentially at a different price point too. Bottom line, collaborate, listen and make sure the right players are in the room: The developer, the key municipality representatives and the financial professional.
