At the September meeting of the Dallas Mastermind Group, meeting champion Kimber Davison, Managing Shareholder at Griffith Davison & Shurtleff, urged attendees to plan now for new Fair Labor Standards Act overtime rules slated to go into effect on December 1, 2016. In response to discussion about how the rules will affect construction industry employers, and discussion about employee benefits in general, Spring Valley Construction Company’s Steve Bruszer noted that health insurance costs have skyrocketed. Spring Valley offers health insurance to all employees. The company received its renewal earlier in September, and was shocked to discover its premium had increased 22.7%.
