As promised in May, Dallas Mastermind Group Champion Kimber Davison updated the group on the International Conference of Shopping Centers conference she attended in Las Vegas in late May. Contrary to popular belief, “rumors of the death of retail anytime in the foreseeable future are exaggerated,” she said. The conference was 50% larger than it was 2 years ago, energy and enthusiasm were high, and deals were being brokered. One interesting observation she had is that there was an extremely high concentration of walk-up food providers (i.e.: Raising Cane’s, Pei Wei, etc.) These businesses were especially interested in making contact with attendees from Texas, she said, as most expressed high interest in gaining market share here.
