HOT TOPICS FOR NEW JERSEY

Summer weather was not the only thing smokin’ hot as the Northern New Jersey Mastermind Group met for the last meeting before Autumn brings a snap to the air.   A full house of members and guests were on hand to discuss some lively topics.

• Host Dresdner Robin presented a strong roster of ten projects entered in the Second Annual ULI Awards that the Urban Land Institute will announce on November 8^th.   One of the entries will be the tallest building in Jersey City – and the state.
• The industrial market is hotter than hot, from the waterfront to the PA border in Flanders.
• Competition in the apartment market has not yet peaked, with more and more properties filling the pipeline without an end in sight – and some landlords offering a free month or two to compete for tenants.
• Medical marijuana is coming to a Jersey town near you.  Discussions ranged from legal ramifications of cannabis, to the challenges of running a “cash only” business, to mixed reactions from towns and communities over whether to lay out a welcome mat or bar the door.

This month, the Jersey group also welcomed its newest member, EisnerAmper LLP, a full-service tax and accounting firm that has also joined the NYC Mastermind Group.
