Amazon is gobbling up warehouse space in suburban Washington, DC. The internet giant is annually taking 500,000 to 1 million square feet of data center space in the Dulles submarket which is already 3-5% vacant. Add to that, their logistics group charged with getting us products quickly, took down 1 million square feet in BWI last year and is currently in the market for another 500,000 square feet.

There is still no substantial job growth in part due to the different jurisdictions within the metropolitan area that can’t seem to work together to attract new business.
