RTD Increases Bus, Light Rail and Commuter Rail Lines to Meet Record Growth
At the March Denver meeting, Regional Transportation District (RTD) PR representative Julia Marvin offered insights on new bus, light rail and commuter lines that are slated to be built between 2016 and 2018 in Denver and the surrounding areas, making RTD one of the largest in the country. Her information sparked considerable conversation on how public transportation affects urban density and real estate in the Denver area, as well as millennial saturation and parking.
Members continue to express confidence over the continuing growth in multi-family, single-family, commercial and industrial growth in Denver and the outlying areas. There is a 20% increase in jobs (which translates to 42k-53k jobs coming into the Denver area) and property is being built where RTD lines will be in the future. Another point of interest is the number of obsolete industrial buildings that are being repurposed for the marijuana industry.
