One hot topic at this month’s meeting was the uncertain future of DFW’s grocery and grocery-anchored retail scene. Member Guy Grivas of MG Retail Partners shared that his company recently met with representatives with Kroger, who confirmed it was shutting off all new capital to the Texas market. The news is a radical departure from the major grocer expansion occurring over the past year and a half. Consensus among the group was that HEB, which owns approximately 20 sites in the DFW area, will eventually move forward with local expansion plans.
