Harold echoed previous speakers by asserting that the coming Walmart IDC planned for Mobile would revolutionize containerized shipping through the Port of Mobile. Mobile is well-poised in terms of logistics, with a diverse, thriving port and access to rail and highway modes of shipment. In addition to Mobile’s planned infrastructure improvements at the port, other dynamics in the shipping industry should help Mobile’s port remain well-positioned for growth in the coming years. With the Walmart IDC on the way and other big retail players eyeing Mobile’s potential, the Port City could well become a critical logistics hub on the Gulf Coast.
