Brad Christensen, Director of the City of Mobile’s Department of Real Estate Assets, spoke with the Gulf South Mastermind Group at the February meeting, and provided a comprehensive view of the gamut of projects that are either underway or upcoming in Mobile. Among those projects is the Three-Mile Creek greenway project, which will connect many of the city’s parks along the creek to businesses and recreational opportunities all the way to Mobile Bay. Because the city has a $100 million backlog in Facilities maintenance projects, the city recently began a facilities condition assessment survey to not only inventory city properties and facilities, but to provide a comprehensive strategic plan for maintaining necessary facilities as well as for repurposing or off-loading those facilities which may no longer be needed. According to Christensen, all of these projects are framed by Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s Map for Mobile, which will provide a plan moving forward for future development of Mobile’s myriad resources.
