At the February meeting of the Dallas Mastermind Group, Doug McDonald, City of Plano’s Comprehensive Planning Manager and president-elect of the Texas chapter of the American Planning Association, briefly updated attendees on the city’s present and vision for the future. Plano, the fourth most populous city in DFW (after Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington), is home to six Fortune 1000 headquarters and is a net importer of the region’s jobs. Currently, 30K new jobs are in the pipeline in Plano thanks to Coca-Cola, Fannie Mae, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Liberty Mutual, and Toyota North America. All are either relocating to Plano or expanding their existing operations in the city.
