Autumn in New York: A Focus on Office, Condos, People & Design
The NYC Mastermind Group shared a broad range of topics – healthy Manhattan market trends for Q3 2017; office workplace strategies centered around people, the coming shortage of skilled laborers, growing pre-work space trends, and much more. This meeting boasted the largest attendance for the NYC group to date – 20 people filled the conference room to capacity!
In our second Member Spotlight, Tom Gilman of Gilman Architects demonstrated how his firm adds to the dynamics of NYC’s architectural landscape with high-end building design, expert construction oversight, city zoning know-how, and financial acumen. He highlighted two projects that reflect his firm’s expertise. The Murano, a 9-story luxury condo in Long Island City, features a glass and metal façade with angled metal balconies that underscore spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline. The Periscope – a six-story glass-enclosed penthouse in the sky, features a unique “stick” construction raised and cantilevered above a 1930s 6-story apartment building. The result was a panoramic view of Central Park and the Upper West Side, 185 feet above the ground. Thorough pre-planning, engineering, out-of-the-box design, and a firm knowledge of city regulations made both projects possible. Tom would love to sit down and talk one-on-one with anyone just beginning to look at properties to develop.
