Visions of Economic Growth, Transportation and a Bronx Tale of Transformation Mark the End of 2017
Members of the NYC RPN Mastermind Group topped off a great year with two powerful presentations. Dr. Alexander Heil, chief economist for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, shared the latest economic news and its impact on the transportation hub of the region. Beyond that, he speculated on the impact of the pending Federal tax reform on job growth, infrastructure and market segments in the near term and potentially for the future. Trends in automatic cars, artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovations for the future were showcased and discussed. Dr. Heil topped off his presentation with a fascinating and timely look at how climate change and rising sea levels will affect the region in the not at all distant future.
An equally fascinating presentation was given by three members of the Dresdner Robin team in this month’s Member Spotlight. After focusing on how the company’s land development and engineering expertise, represented by Tim Lavin and Charles Heydt, is transforming the cityscape of New York, Joe Mele presented a case study of how Baldor Specialty Food’s expansion in the Hunt’s Point was transforming this industrial section of the Bronx.
