Member Dave Barrett, President of BA Barrett Construction, updated the group on the $2M in office and retail redevelopment underway at the historically registered Healey Building. Though not a part of Georgia State University, as a partner in the redevelopment, he is working to create some buzz on the Forsyth Street side with the conversion of the lower 2 floors to retail.

Dave also commented on a recent interaction he had with Invest Atlanta, having attended a workshop with a client who was looking for a loan. Invest Atlanta is putting their money where there mouth is when it comes to encouraging businesses to come into Downtown. They can do loans for small businesses up to $100,000 at incredibly low rates and Dave opined that they seemed to be incredibly flexible in working with even some of the most challenging financial circumstances. Invest Atlanta also has a robust loan program that facilitates the purchase of buildings, which Dave encouraged everyone to look into for their clients.
