Marsha Anderson Bomar and the Gwinnett CID, Gateway 85 are doing their part to alleviate some of Atlanta’s more challenging traffic problems. As a recent guest speaker, Marsha explained that with more than 40M SF of industrial space, the very freight intensive area at Jimmy Carter Boulevard has presented many challenges. The CID invested $1M into the $10M project that created a divergent diamond interchange on the bridge over I-85 on Jimmy Carter Blvd. This has resulted in a 10% – 60% decrease in time navigating the intersection.
Marsha also updated the group on the trail along Beaver Ruin Road being built by Gateway 85 that will connect Norcross to Lilburn, a very densely populated area. Discussion also centered on the opportunities she sees on the horizon for the Buford Highway area south of Jimmy Carter. With Gwinnett citizens set to vote on MARTA in March, the possibility of improved public transportation could be a big benefit to the area.
