Attendees at the Dallas meeting focused their discussion on the initiatives of the Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization department of the City of Dallas. Their guest speaker, department Director David Noguera, explained that while Dallas is the 9th largest city in the country, in many respects they operate like a small town. The city is hoping to expand their marketing to developers to let them know that Dallas is “open for business”. He also shared that “Dallas is a tale of two cities: In North Dallas, there is a land shortage and cost is a major factor; in South Dallas, there is plenty of open land, but is has challenges such as lack of infrastructure, crime and concerns with code compliance.”
