At the January 26 REAL Professionals Network Gulf South Multi-Discipline Meeting, members of the group discussed the continued redevelopment of downtown as a hotspot in the market. Mike Rogers of Rogers and Willard spoke Stabout his work on the St. Louis Street corridor, while John Peebles of NAI Mobile talked about his group’s co-workspace project at 202 Government Street in the former Red Square building. Pete Riehm of NAI Mobile said he’s seeing a steady stream of industrial prospects, and Student housing is beginning to awaken once again near the University of South Alabama. However, he said from his purview, the most in-demand area in the market continues to be downtown Mobile. With several pending downtown multi-family residential projects planned or underway to help relieve the demand overhang, it is clear that downtown Mobile will continue to be an active area in the coming year.
