On the heels of the federal government’s announcement that they are putting the search for a new FBI campus on an indefinite hold, the members of the DC mastermind group had a lot on their minds for this month’s meeting regarding the status of the office market in DC proper and in the suburbs. While DC’s office market remains strong and seems to be holding steady as far as vacancy rates, many of the suburbs are not faring so well and it remains to be seen how much shrinking GSA leases will impact the rest of the market. Another prominent point of discussion was the red-tape and bureaucratic layers involved in development nowadays when it comes to meeting often-unclear environmental regulatory standards.
