Tracy Gabriel, executive director of the Crystal City BID, joined this month’s DC Mastermind Meeting to share, and add context to, all of the exciting things happening in this northern Virginia neighborhood.  Amazon’s selection of the Pentagon City, Crystal City and Potomac Yard neighborhoods as home for a partial new headquarters was the culmination of the Crystal City BID’s efforts to market the three areas into one unified “downtown,” as well as nearly a decade of planning in Arlington County to enhance the urban experience and transit infrastructure in the area now known as “National Landing.”   Attendees were surprised to hear that rather than potentially overwhelming the area, the addition of 25,000 jobs in National Landing compensates for the loss of 24,000 jobs post-BRAC, and Amazon’s impending arrival is adding momentum (and funding) behind initiatives that have long been in the works.
