New paradigms in real estate were centermost at the NYC Mastermind meeting.
Co-living spaces are taking center stage along with the still burgeoning co-working paradigm. Tishman Speyer is teaming with Common on a 400K SF building in Long Island City that will include co-living space for young families. Other co-living leaders like Ollie, The Collective and WeWork are focusing on shared spaces for young Millennial professionals and seniors.
WeWork is expanding its reach as the #1 co-working environment and office tenant in NYC with Powered by WeWork – a new architecture, design and construction services business model.
According to speaker Michael Beckerman of CREtech, the future of real estate is technology, technology, technology. Cities are already embracing hi-tech to reinvent themselves – NYC’s Hudson Yards, Toronto’s new waterfront, and the current reinvention of Tampa were cited. Expect an explosion of AI in all aspects of real estate with data scientists replacing current marketers, legal assistants and others. Data will be the big industry of the future.
